2019 has flown by so fast and we have done lots of fun things. We had a great day in Te Tinana making lots of xmas treats.

2 weeks ago at paparore school we were  getting ready to go  to lake Ngatu we were so excited we were split into 3 groups there were lots of people were in each group then we started the walk it took a little while but we still managed to get there but when we got there man it was warm I could see some people on some Waka's.

Coopers Beach Camp 2019 Te Whare Tui

My camp highlights were  Slippy Hockey, Capture the Flag and the Water Slide. It was so fun because we were all playing by the rules in Slippy Hockey and Capture the Flag. I was going so fast on the water slide I was the 2nd to go down. Jada went first cause an adult had to go down first. One of my favorite activities was also the tramps and when we got to play basketball and go down to the beach and the playground.

Rugby World Cup 2019 - Food in Scotland

                           Cranachan

Cranachan is a traditional Scottish dessert. It was originally a celebration of harvest, made following the raspberry harvest in June. 

• oatmeal
• fresh raspberries Scottish if possible
• cream or double cream
• 3 tablespoon malt whisky 
• 1 tablespoon honey Scottish honey  

1 Gather ingredients
2 Heat a heavy based frying skillet on the stove until hot but not burning  
3. Add the oats and continually stirring toast oats until they have light nutty smell and are only just beginning to change colours Do not leave the oats unattended as the oatmeal can quickly burn so they will need constant attention. Once toasted remove immediately from the pan.     
4. Keeping a handful of the raspberries to one side, place the remainder into a food processor and whiz once or twice to create a thick purée. Do not over blend. It's okay if there are a few bigger lumps of fruits.
5. Alternatively, you can simply crush the raspberries with a fork, if you prefer. This will give you a more rustic-looking dish.

6. In a large, clean bowl, whisk the cream and whisky to form firm peaks. Take care not to over whip.

7. Finally fold in the honey if using followed by the toasted oatmeal.

8. In either a large glass trifle bowl or into individual serving glasses, layer the dessert. You can start with a layer of the cream or raspberries; it is up to you. Always finish with a layer of the cream and oatmeal. If you wish you can even sprinkle a little oatmeal on the top for decoration

9. Cover the bowl or glasses with clingfilm and chill for a minimum of one hour.

10. To serve the Cranachan, drizzle over a little extra honey (optional) and if you fancy, a piece or two of Scottish shortbread 

11. serve to enjoy 

Term 4 Manaikalani Film Festival 2019

Today Te Manga and Te Kauri went to the manaikalani Film festival 2019 on November the 7th Thursday at the TE AHU centre. We walked the red carpet I felt like I was a VIP and in a celebrity and Famous. There were heaps of other schools films their like Pompaller, Monganui and other schools like that. I felt exited when we walked in. It was the time that I felt most excited in my life. When we walked in I sat up the top some where and i was sitting next to Donnie and Whaea Sharls when our film was played I was so embarrassed in myself  I covered my eyes when i was Jumping up and down I was hoping no other schools noticed me that's how embarrassed I was my Favourite film was the trespasser it was my favourite cause this boy he was the trespasser and there was this sign that no trespassing Keep off and then the trespasser got a marker and crossed off no and write keep and crossed out keep off so it said Keep trespassing it was so funny and then the trespasser got caught and ran away and the boy who owned the stuff started chasing the trespasser and kept saying hey get here or i call your dad so he called his dad and the trespasser was grounded after a few more movies it was finished and we hoped on the bus and went to McDonald  we could get a Frozen coke or a ice cream i got a frozen coke and after everyone was done we went back to school

DRAFT - Duffy Theatre - magic bricks

Duffy was excited he was going to his favourite cousins house for the school holidays. When Duffy got there he went to see Sam, Sam was Gaming magic bricks. Duffy said hi Sam was being obnoxious. the Duffy tried to give Sam a hi 5 but Sam didn't do it He said ive got a book about magic bricks Sam said why read when you can game.Sam got mad because the dismantiler was breaking her building and Sam started ragging like a rhino. And started fussing about it and moaning Duffy saw a photo of his Nana and said Kia ora Nana then Duffy started talking about her and he said Nana used to have have heaps of books I wish she was still here to keep me company and said want to read some books in moari Sam said Nope then Duffy mad a fart noise with his mouth then Sam said gaming better than reading  Duffy tried to snatch the controller but Sam got it back Duffy said well I think reading still better then Duffy put on Nanas glasses and aaa moko then Duffy Faded in to the game and Sam said Duffy were did you go then Sam saw Duffy on the screen Duffy said where am i he said Sam tried to tell Duffy was in the game it took a while before Duffy noticed he was in the game he said i'm in the Hall of mirrors and he said Sam were are you i'm at home in the lounge Sam replied then Duffy said am i on TV then he started waving to the Audience then Sam said we need the get you out of there then Duffy saw some blocks and he tried to get them then A computer Voice came out of the game and said choose your skin the there were three a pirate skin a Yellow fluffy skin and this funny looking skin that looked like a Brickish muscly looking one and it was funny and he choose it and he

Rugby World Cup 2019

In Te Manga we have been learning about the Rugby World Cup. My country is Scotland  and its my favourite country and I like that it has blue and white because they are one of my favourite colours. My other favourite country's is Jamaica, Argentina and Spain but Spain and Jamaica aren't in the RWC. I wish they were there. I want to go to Scotland one day, the main food in Scotland is something called HAGGIS, it looks weird but I think Scottish people like it.

Yesterday we had a dress up day and it was a RWC dress up and I dressed up in blue and white cause I was Scotland, our class looked really cool.

NZ Playhouse - Second Draft

The Hare and the Tortoise 

This morning we were entertained by the fantastic NZ playhouse. The actors were piped piper, hare, ginger bread man , humpty dumpty and tortoise. They were funny as at the start they told us that we could talk in the show because in other shows we can't talk. but when they do this thing when they cross there arms then we be as quit as we can as fast as we can Everyone was laughing because they were they were trying to make a finish line for the race in the show they made it but it then it kept falling apart the show is about a hare who's really mean and this ginger bread man try's to stop the hare from being mean but the hare keeps calling the ginger man biscuit boy and then then the ginger bread man called the hare a rabbit but they keep fighting and when the hare left the.Tortoise came around the set and then the hare came back after the ginger bread man and the tortoise stopped talking then the hare and the ginger bread man
had a arm reseal and no one won so it was a tie and the tortoise and the ginger bread man started training the tortoise and when the hare and the ginger bread man were doing there arm reseal they were talking And said the tortoise could beat the mean hare. The hare laughed and said that tortoise will never beat me in a race i'm to speedy for that tortoise and the tortoise won.

  

The Great Reading Adventure

Last Friday was our assembly it was called the Great Reading Adventure. I was a SUPERHERO. I was BLACK PANTHER. I forgot my mask and my suit but my good friend Millan brought his mask. He didn't bring his suit but it was OK because Whaea Deb had a black t-shirt and I was wearing some black pants so my costume was sorted. All the other superheroes were ready too and we were on as soon as Maui and the Sun and his brothers were off. We were fierce and not scared at all and we were telling jokes like "what's a superheros favourite drink? PUNCH." Or "how does BATMAN'S mum  call him for dinner? Dina dina dina dina dina dina dina dina BATMAN!!!" Then the nonfiction group were up next and they were telling the audience about real things about the EARTH and other non fictional things. Then the next group were Harry Potter's. They were telling everyone about the boy whose  a WIZARD, he spent his life saving the world from Voldemort, the evil wizard. Then we were doing the DUFFY SONG. We were having heaps of FUN!!! We were doing heaps of Duffy dances it was real FUNNY doing our dances. I was embarrassed when my sister Eva saw me dancing.Then we were finished I was so happy that I didn't have to dance anymore.I was so relieved and before when we were practising I was so happy when we were doing the Duffy song because there were no people and I wasn’t scared at all. Finally Duffy, who was Arahia  said "SIR can you hand out the certificates?" Then sir handed out the certificates and then everyone left after the certificates were handed out.

when we were with Harley we were reading some scripts and acting to them then we were recording I was the first actor me and Cleo we were acting as two kids at school the two kids in the script were called Alex and drew I was Alex and Cleo was drew I had to say your late Mr. wibble is looking for you then Cleo says its fine this jacket makes me look invisible then I would say but I can see you ... plain as day. then Cleo said oh no the battery must have run out again then we would keep going and going trying and trying

Ka Pai Kai With Whaea Anna

WALT cook healthy food with Whaea Anna. She is teaching us all about healthy eating.

Group 4 is my group; Kiarn, Awhi, Zaviah and Arahia and we are making some Tutti Frutti Smoothie's!!! 

Our recipe needs bananas, berries and milk. 

The equipment we need are paper straws, knives, glasses, cups, blenders and chopping boards.  

I am looking forward to drinking the smoothies and the pizza. YUM 😁😁😁  
            

                           

My Amazing water facts with Lucy

This term we are learning about water.

These are some facts we have found out using an Amazing water facts sheet.

Did you know that the worst marine pollution was between 1953 - 1967 when a plastics factory in Japan Deposited Mercury into the sea over 20 000 people were affected and 800 died .

The Earths water is frozen in to huge blocks of ice or glaciers. The sun Evaporates 100 000 000 tones of water each day.

The Lion King Movie - First Draft

Yesterday we went to the movies with Te Tinana and watched The Lion King. When we were at the movies 

we got some drinks. I got water and  the popcorn it was cool watching the popcorn pop. As soon as everyone got their popcorn we were in the movie theatre. We were watching the adds I was already eating my popcorn and as soon as the movie started I was almost finished my popcorn. 

So I wasn't eating much and Rafiki the baboon was holding Simba the lion cub. and when he got older he was older Mufasa simba's dad told him to never leave the Kingdom.  Mufasa's  brother Scar he was the mean lion hated Mufasa one day Simba  walked of because Scar told him to leave and never come back so Simba went of and he was in a desert and he got knocked out and Pumba and Timon found him scar's crew of hyenas keep trying to Kill simba to try stop him from becoming the future king  pumba and timon took Simba.  

   

Wonderful Sentences

I have been learning how to copy and paste from our class writing flip charts to share our learning. I know how to insert bullet points and use the highlighting tool.

We know that wonderful sentences need:

• detail (elaboration)
• capital letters and full stops
• Punctuation (, ! ? “ “)
• quality vocab - WOW words

 WALT recognise different parts of speech.

Nouns are naming words. eg. chair, book, July, Awhi

 Adjectives describe nouns.

Eg. wooden chair, writing book, freezing July, lovely Awhi

Verbs are doing words.

Eg run, walk, jump, skip, chew

Adverbs describe verbs.

Eg. briskly running, slowly walking, jumping high, skipping happily and chewing noisily.

EXAMPLES

Tuna Kuwharuwharu Longfin Eel

This term we have been learning all about the Longfin eel.

Our assembly item was based on the story Velvet and Elvis. This was a story about the migration journey that the Longfin eel takes.

Raranga Matihiko Journey - Waitangi Journey

Last Tuesday I got to school at 8:00 because we were going to Waitangi. We  arived at Waitangi and met Whaea Kerry and Whaea Monika we went up the stairs and there  was an art gallery. There was blood splatering down from whales, I felt sad. Next when we got into the learning centre, it was magical in there. The technology was perfectly placed and laid out and there were colurful bean bags and perfect colures on the cushions, I thought their stuff was  delightful.

Whaea Imogen said that caitlyn was coming. She showed us some special  rocks then we did a unplugged activety. We had to sort out the cards from One-Fifty. Me Charlie and Kiarn were buddies.

Then we went on scratch we were  puting our avatars on scratch and then we put our backdrops on. Mine looked perfect. Then we made some Tuna-EEls. I made my dark green I made it move and I  made my  EEL and my avatar move I made my Avatar say look its a EEL and its a big one. My EEl looked like it was moving and slithering in the water.

Last we did a kahoot. me and Mason.t were buddies. We were the legends we came 5th place and Whaea Deb came 1st and when we did a question we all got it wrong I said what!!! At the end of the day we took some photos, my day was awesome.

My Holiday Writing

On the first week of the holidays it was my cousins birthday he turned ten . We went to the beach we played bat down and ball rush . As soon as me my sister and my cousins started  playing everyone joined to play too. Then we went for a swim it was so so sooo cold. My cousin Bailey tryed to push me under the water everyone did but me and birthday boy. It was too cold but I went under. I did it so he would't push me it was really cold I was shivering. I ran out of the water my mum was fishing and she caught a stingray and it ate her hook.

Gala writing

I woke up jumped out of bed looked out the window and it was dawn, then BOOM!!! it hit me. I Dashed to my mum and yelled at her and said hurry up, Get ready, we're going to be late for the paparore school gala!!! We all scoffed our breakfast. Me and Eva Got changed very fast and we Zoomed like flash to the car. we dashed to the gala. as soon as we  got their I ran like Flash to get my tickets. But the bank was closed.  I was to early

5 minutes after that we got our Tickets then I went to the go karts. The go karts had really awesome Coloured flames.  It was hard to drive on the track. they Were Drifty. they had Very cool colours on the top. Eva and April went to the bungy Jump then I went to the big bouncy castle with Mason L. After that I went on the Harley davidsens.  I went on the blue one. I Thought it was the fastest. It was loud and it was big. The dark red one was pretty fast. Then I went to the rock climbing wall with Damon, Dylan and Bradley. Bradley got blindfolded  and he made it up half Way. I didn't get blindfolded but I made It half way too.    Last but not least I went To the golf course. If the ball lands on a lollipop you get a drink bottle, if it lands on a lollie you get A packet of lollies.  I went with Rickarn. I Went 1st and he went after. I got one Packet lollies then just left him so I could eat my lollies. 

Experiencing Marine Reserves 20.3.19

A marine reserve is a protected place where you  cannot take anything from them. If you do, there will be no more sea life for everyone. There will be nothing left for the sea life and the only thing that will be alive is the kina. If you fish for sea food in a marine reserve you could go to jail.
